What was he thinking?

Saw a commercial for the lineup for the next season of Dancing with the Stars.

Typical dipsh*t D-list celebs. Kate Gosslin, the chick from the pu**ycat Dolls, Pam Anderson.

Then I see Buzz Aldrin! An American legend. He is a pioneer and historical figure. What in the world would posses him to sign up and put himself in the company of such people? Perhaps they are not made aware of who the other "stars" are.

I don't know but I that is something that really shocked me.

Like Troy Aikman said in an interview I saw with Roger Staubauch. When he was asked about Dancing with the Stars he said no way. But they did pay pretty well. It's all about the money.

I agree with you OP. I hate those reality shows. The man has to be a few years old also.

"Buzz" always liked the "lime-light"; unlike Neil Armstrong who did everything he could to ignore publicity.

Buzz on the other hand wrote books; made public appearances; and participated in anything that would put him in the spot-light.

It would be my guess... Buzz is looking to do that again... along with the money he'll make.

Even legends need money. ;)

At 60 years of age I'm pretty much doing whatever I please! I don't give a buzzard's butt about what other people think anymore. Buzz is in his 70's, give him a break.

I met and spoke with Buzz a few years ago at a friend's observatory about 1/4 mile from my home. I also met Charlie Duke at another get together at the same observatory. Buzz is very outgoing and friendly. Never got the pleasure of meeting Neil Armstrong. He has been invited by the curator but has always declined. Very private guy. I agree, it's all about money and publicity. I don't think Buzz needs either of the two but apparently enjoys both.

I am sure the network was also looking for someone in the older generation to draw viewers.

Some people never get enough attention or money. Money is nice but not everything.
