Snow in Alabama on Christmas Day

The northern part of the state has been getting snow all morning. This is the first measurable snow in north Alabama since 1989. As you can see it is a very rare event in Alabama. Here at my house we probably have about 2 inches.

Its nice that youll be able to say youve enjoyed a couple of white Christmases in your time there. For us it is a regular occurence. I can't remember anymore than a couple Christmases that havn't been white.

I do love the snow so guess I should move farther north. It has been a nice Christmas with the snow and everything else.

As Ring says, it's a regular occurrence up this way. The odd time it has been a green Christmas, well it just doesn't seem like Christmas and hard to get into the spirit.

I have lived with it for 65 winters. will never move from here but still, snow is a nuisance. On the other hand, my house is still here when the snow goes away, and I don't have scorpions,rattle snakes, black widow spiders, alligators or lions and tigers and bears, OH MY!

Believe it or not, we had a white Christmas down here in 2005. Enough to accumulate and build a snowman.

We got 3 inches here in Gainesville area. First Crimmas snow in Georgia in well over 100 years.
I grew up with snow in Pa., but got smart and headed south years ago!

No snow if Fayetteville (30 miles south of Atlanta) on Christmas day, but this morning the ground was white. Missed it by one day!

7" in East Bend,NC. Last measurable Christmas Eve snow was 1947 @ 4.3"

It's rare in the South, and it makes it enjoyable. It even gives the people who complain about it something to complain about. So everybody is happy!

You are right Mike. Most people here in Alabama complain about it. I really enjoy having at least one snow a year, not that that happens. It is really special when it happens on Christmas.
