G'day all. Just a bit curious about what pressures you blokes are running in your Nomad rear shox, and under what conditions (pillion, trailer etc) Would be interested in your comments. Not many sleeps till Penrith... Woohoo!

Cheers,

Nomad shox / air pressure?

hi there dingo, and welcome to the forums. i am currently running 10 psi and on setting 3, this is running solo. i was running 30 psi but the guys set me right on our ride day as it was way too high. it all will depend on what you like the bike to do as well as your weight etc. so all in all i think i am most probably no use to you at all, but the other guys on here will put you on the right track.

I run 20PSI and the damper setting on 3 but I am a big guy my wife runs her's on 10PSI & 3
it all depends on how stiff you want the bike to handle I suppose I like a stiffer ride as I corner quite fast and like the bike to sit firm on the road.

Once they start on it it won't take that long to do and the end resault will be worth waiting for.

if it was any other model/color i would have painted it myself in a nice custom color but i couldnt bring myself to part with the green. i would love to know how many were sold in aus as there dosent seem to be many around. aj it sure set the standard but im not game to try a newer one in case i find out that the standard was long left behind. im sure there is a lot of difference between 98 and 08.

Ok guys, its a pain to check the air, so I get the service guys to do it. What do you do? I'm told you can blow out the shocks if you use a servo pump, so should use a bike pump. Not found one good enough yet. Any suggestions?

i just use a little hand pump that would be avalable from any auto parts store also a small pressure guage, all up they cost about $15. when you use the pressure guage allow for 5 psi loss when you take it off though. if you keep the shocks at the same pressure all the time get your bike shop to pressurise them with nitrogen. i had this done on a bike and it was great as its more stable over different temps than air. I agree with the chevy comparison aj, its all style over substance for me, althogh you could have picked some decent cars like some fords.
