New Victorys and Indians

Seems like color changes for the most part. I kind of expected an update for the Vision, but none came.

VERY disappointing for us Vic lovers, looks like I'll be keeping Big Red.
Fewer colors and nothing new except a $20,000 electric sport bike.

I really hoped and thought they'd refresh the Vision. It's 7 years old now, 8 really. It's about time, unless they feel it hasn't paid for itself yet. The thing is, time marches on and touring bikes have gotten more sophisticated. I expect that the Goldwing will be a rolling museum piece in a couple years.

If you count the 2016 model year that is 9 years for the Vision with virtually no changes. It is long in the tooth and should have had some improvements years ago. Even the Victory faithful are starting to complain about the lack of something new, and rightfully so.
Many of my riding buds have been on Victory's since the first ones rolled off the assembly line in 1998 as 1999 models and they are starting to wonder about the lack of an improved engine and transmission. All of the handlebar controls need refining as does the entertainment systems and electronics. They better step up and do something or they will lose some of the Vic faithful, not a good thing.

May be they want them to buy Roadmasters. Probably a higher margin on the latter. I agree with you about the long in tooth. Even HD refines things every 4-5 years.

Do they sell that many Visions relative to other Vic's? Just wondered if that might be the reason.

Gotta pay for the molds before you move on.

Some improvements wouldn't break the moulds. I guess they are putting their resources elsewhere.

Could it be that when Polaris bought the rights for Indian that most of the effort was put into them? Updates are always nice however small they are.

I think that victory will move away from the cruiser market and focus on more performance orientated bikes.they already have a new engine that was raced at the pikes
peak challenge this year.polaris will continue to develop their indian line of crusiers.

Probably so. I am surprised they haven't hired on Eric Buell, even as a consultant.

I read a fairly long report about his last bankruptcy and how many people and companies were left holding the bag when things unfolded abruptly. He apparently didn't share a few pieces of vital information on how vulnerable his upstart was to his investors and businesses associated with the project -- so his credibility is in the dirt with many deep within the industry.

Eric probably needs to take a break from things for a while...

It was just released that Hero motors bought all of the assets EBR (Buell's failed company) for just $2.8mil free of all encumbrances.

Hero was a partner in the EBR project with around 49% ownership. Rumor has it that Eric will return to work for Hero as a consultant on the resurrected project.

Now that the dust has cleared, it seems the whole bankruptcy was nothing more than a financial ploy to not only get out from under the debt acquired, but also for Hero to buy the company back for next to nothing.

Sometimes it seems as if bankruptcy can be a complete sham, if not complete crookery, as this looks from the outside looking in.
