New guy Saying "Hi" Got some ??

Hi every one. I just signed up with V.B.A. this week. Been a VROCer since 01. I'm on my 4th. Vulcan. I bought a N.O.S. 2012 Nomad last July & did a run to N.C. from WI. this past June. She did good on the open road but I think should have climbed the hills of W.V. better. I may go with chucksters BAK. But first I want to settle on pipes & FI. A friend who rides sport bikes is telling me its better to get a complete exhaust instead of slip-on. The # of used slip-ons I'm seeing sold here has me wondering. I'm eyeing the V&H Pro pipe. Those who have them please let me know you're thoughts. And will they drag before the floorboard in a hard turn? FI. is another matter. I see many of you are split between PCV. & EJK. From the threads I'm reading the Vaquero riders seem to favor the PCV. How about 1700 Nomad riders? T.I.A.

Welcome and enjoy ur Nomad.

First off, Vance and Hines slip-ons are a real good choice and if you can get a good used set cheap go for it.. Easy to install, nice tone and make bout 3-5 more H.P. than stock mufflers as seen on my dyno. ABSOLUTLY STAY AWAY from the Vance and Hines 2-1. POOR ground clearance, lots of resonance and poor midrange, even compared to the stock header with the V&H slip-ons.

Staying with the 2-1 idea, 100% hands down the Combat system made by Freedom Performance. EXCELENT ground clearance, wonderful tone, torque and H.P. well above anything else. PERIOD.

Any brand BAK will increase power and torque, getcha better mpg and throttle response. While installing the BAK install the throttle body/intake manifold gasket from Thunder Mfg to eliminate any possibilities of intake vacuum leaks at that junction. This is a well know problem with the 1700's.

You will not find a better FI Tuner than the PCV with ignition timing capabilities. PERIOD. By far the best in tuneability, mpg and overall performance.

And also to toot my own horn, get my throttle mod for ur skoot which eliminates the throttle delay programmed into the ECU, I'll pm you that info.

With many many 1700's on my dyno in various stages and types of mods I have amassed tons of info, these 1700's absolutely WAKE UP to the above. Generally H.P. gains of 8-15 and torque 8-17 from stock. You will be impressed of the improvements!

Hers some pics of my Vaq...

Just clicked this last nite...skoot is 4 years and 3 months old...

My skoot with the Freedom Performance Combat 2-1...

Welcome from central Texas. The other mod you might want to look into is the Thunder Mfg HI-Po Big Bore kit...if you ask me...

Welcome to PM me with questions if you're interested.

It was used and is a retired diesel engine and water pump used to move water in and out of the Florida Everglades. I converted the displacement from c.i. to cc's, comes out to over 170,000 cc's! But yea it's cool to look at, and on the side is a walkway where you can get up to and see the tops. I'm guessin those things are found in ships too. I believe the info plaque said it could pump 150,000 gallons of h2o in a minute or so.

YEEHAW!!!

Welcome from Iowa.

FYI, RacnRay knows these 1700s. His post is worth reading twice.

Ride safe and Enjoy!
