Interesting moment

...well, at least I thought so. I went to a VROC bike night last evening. There were about 8 or 9 of us sitting on the covered patio in 112 degree heat drinking beer. Directly outside the patio was our bikes, all Nomads, with the exception of a V2K, a Triumph Sprint, an ST1300, and an Ultra Classic. We were sitting around a table, and I was facing the parking lot. I saw a City of Chandler motor officer cruising through the parking lot and he slowed down and was really eyeing our bikes. We had them parked on the sidewalk, where everyone always parks their bikes.

A minute or so later, the cop walks onto the patio. I noticed he was a lieutenant. He says "Who belongs to the Honda"? Mel raises his hand and says "it's mine". and the officer stands there and shoots the breeze with him for 15 minutes and then they walk out together so Mel can show him something on his bike. They probably stood around BSing in the parking lot for another 20-30 minutes. It was pretty cool. The officer was just interested in Mel's ST1300 because he has one of his own. Mel is part owner of an independent motorcycle shop, so he picked the right guy to talk to.

I just thought it was an interesting encounter with law enforcement.

Interesting moment

In '72 after a friend and I graduated we were speeding up the road in his new orange Buick GS455 Stage1 and were stopped by a cop. He told us he knew we were speeding but stopped us to look at the car. That worked out great.

OMG! I used to own one of those. I bought it for $150 from some kid's father. The kid hadn't registered it, and then smacked up the front end & couldn't afford to fix it. His dad sold it off to me cheap because it was parked on the street he was afraid of getting tickets or having it impounded.

I was going to use it as a donor car for my '47 Plymouth coupe, but unfortunately an untimely divorce put an end to that project before it got started, and the Buick ended up being sold off to a junkyard.
