Just take your time. Don't ride too many hours or miles in a day and you'll be fine. Take lots of butt breaks and smell the roses along the way... ;) .

I guess it is time to admit to myself my limitations...

Well put. All through life, almost every time I didn't admit to my limitations some part of me ending up hurting.

Enjoy the Rally.

When I go camping with my Nomad it's the Nomad that is being pulled on a trailer.

Well Jim, don't feel alone. I'm trailering Ruby Earl to the rally also.

My wife, Kathy and I have decided that I'm not going on a long trip anymore without her. Kathy is not used to riding all day yet, so I decided to trailer my Nomad to the National so she could come along.

So, if anyone ribs ya... I'll be right beside you taking it too.

I'm in the same situation as Trip and Jim. The Missus felt uncomfortable doing a long trip and wanted to go further east to visit family after the Rally. I'm not exactly healthy either. The best decision for us was to go to the Rally together and bring the bike on a trailer.

Trip my ribs hurt already. Besides I'll be trying the TIAB for the first long trip.

TIAB = Trailer In A Bag

My initial thoughts about the TIAB are is seems well built except for the channel, which seems a little light weight. It pulls well. It is a trick to load for sure.

Don't worry Trip I'm sure we can find some ice for our bruises!

I keep trying to look at all the positive things about this trailing. The best thing so far is that Liz's rear tire is kind of borderline needing to be replaced. By not riding the 900 miles to MV, I now do not have to worry about that. I can replace it at my leave after we get back. And also if it should rain or get real hot we will have a vehicle to cruse around in. We can bring a big cooler for " water " and if I get " water logged " someone can drive me around. We will have room for extra lawn chairs should someone need one. If we find something we want to buy we don't have to worry about how we are going to get it home. I could bring a jack and some tools if there is a need. And finially we will have a trailer there should a bike break down like Liz's did in ES last year.

I must be lucky. My wife had never been on a long motorcycle trip until she rode with me to the first National Rally in Custer, SD back in 2009. That was a three day ride for us and three days back. We took an extra day riding home to run the Beartooth Highway (very well worth it BTW).

She was a trooper and never once complained....even while riding through some pretty good rain here and there. I took time to make the bike comfortable for her....took plenty of butt breaks, but also told her before hand that she might find it mentally challenging to be on the bike for that long. I'm not sure if her pride got in the way of complaining or not....but my gut tells me she really enjoyed it as she keeps jumping on every chance she gets.... ;).

I spent a lot of time away when I was guiding fishing trips and the bike is something I knew we could enjoy together, so I'm pleased that she likes it. When we are on the road together....it brings us closer for sure. It's like us against the world....and she still don't complain any!

It's not the miles (about 850 to MV) I'm concerned with.
It's the heat. It's been in the upper 90's here and my wife doesn't hold up to well in it.
Maybe it will be a little cooler in Tennessee.

Guess what I am doing...
Well Greg, you are either going out and putting a Harley sticker on your trailer OR fliping me off.
I'm guessing the later.

No... not flipping you off... and the trailer already has a chrome HD plate on it...

I am trailering it down for half of the trip.

Meh, I would'nt worry about it Jim. If it will help any, after I get there I can tell you how bad my back and knees hurt .

It's around 1050 miles for me, and I plan on doing it in two days.

I'll probaby buy a trailer and haul mine and Cindy's bikes when I get OLD.
So don't feel bad or embarassed about trailering your bikes guys. ::)
I think we should get ahold of Amy and on the name tags put either, I rode my bike here or I trailered my bike here. ;)
