Your prayers and well wishes update 1/20/11

Elena is a 27 year old single mother of 4 that is a EMT with our service and volunteer firefighter. She was severely injured in a one car accident early Monday morning while traveling to college classes a few miles away. What we know right now she is intubated a broken pelvis in 6 places, chest tube on left side, bleed on the brain where they are watching the pressure. The Doctors are saying a long time in the hospital with long term rehab, But we will see what God has to say about that. That's all I have for now :'(

Elena is currently in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, TX. She is still intubated. Her injuries from head to toe are as follows: Brain Injuries- left temporal bleed, a shearing cerebral stroke, a CT Scan on 11/24/2010 showed that the stroke had gotten worse and that there was some tissue death in the Cerebellum; Sternum is fractured; pelvis is fractured but stable; a feeding tube was placed on 11/24/2010; she has aspiration pneumonia.
I tell you this as a relief for me she is a very dear friend and coworker.

Today she is still intubated they give her 2 pints of blood helped her low BP did another CAT scan with no change which is good. Her ICP is lower also good.

Quick note not much change she will stay intubated tell ICP comes down will do another cat scan Monday some time her BP is good no more blood has been given. We sure miss our little gal thanks for the prayers!!
