Paint a near match ?

Are there any car colour paints that are a close match to the blue/silver on the 05 and 08 Nomad.

I know Colourite paint matches perfectly but I am looking for something cheaper and local.

Thanks.

I bought some Volkswagen silver metallic paint from O'Reilly Auto Parts that was a really close match to the silver on my 05 nomad, I painted my trunk and wanted silver and black to match the bike, never found a match for the black. The silver is Dupli-color P/N BVW2039 Reflex silver Met. (LA7W) hope this helps.

I've heard that PPG automotive paints (one that many body shops use) also have the color codes for all motorcycles and can mix some for cheap.

When I had my local PPG paint shop mix my colors for my '05 Blue and Silver, I had to carry in one of my saddlebags and they scanned it. They did an exact match too, and much less expensive than ColorRite.

:) When I had my trunk painted this spring I took saddlebag in and the body shop scanned it and it appears to be an exact match. Paint was from a local auto parts store similar to NAPA. Must have been cheap cause he gave me the leftover.

Same here ... just picked up my trunk from the painter this week. The local car paint store scanned my saddlebag. The paint matched pretty well ... even had the metallic flakes in it to match. The cost was was about half of Colorite paint.

Thanks for all your responses. Sounds like a paint shop can scan and match.

What would be a decent price for a two tone fairing and trunk paint job ?

When I had my fairing painted it was $500.00 that was five years ago and included a small fibreglass repair as well. The guy did a first class job and it came out as good as new if not better. He wanted about $300 to do the trunk but I left it alone.

I have the new trunk on the bike which is painted Vivid Black, an HD colour, the trunk is an 04 model, and I can't tell the difference from the Kawi black on my bike.

My trunk paint job was $250 (including prep, paint, and labor). However, I had to strip all the hardware off and put it back on.
