New Nomad Rider from Idaho

Hi, all. I just joined this board after purchasing a new 2010 Nomad a week ago. Weather here's not been much good for riding, but so far,the 340 miles I've put on it have been great. Love the new bike.

I came to the Nomad from an '05 GL1800 Gold Wing and 20 years of riding Gold Wings. Been riding since 1972 and have owned many motorcycles from 100cc on up to 1800.

Both my wife and I ride. She rides a GL1800 Wing and loves it. Here's hoping to garner a lot of good info on Nomads on this board.

Another welcome from Canada... this one from Langley BC. Congrats on the new ride. Nice and shiny and new. ;) We've had a couple maybe, that went the opposite direction that you just did, and went to "wings" from the Nomad. Anyway, where are you located in Idaho??

Welcome from Ohio. Nice to hear that a Wing isn't always the final destination. As Rickyboy mentioned there have been many that gave up their Vulcans for Wings, interested to hear your thoughts on going the other way.

Thanks for all the nice responses. I'm located in Meridian, Id, butted up against the west side of Boise. If you're in Boise, walk across the street and you're in Meridian. Nice place to live.

As I read the various forums and threads on this board, I see that the Vulcan/Nomad is a very popular bike in Canada. That's interesting, because the Gold Wing doesn't seem to be as big a draw there. The Wing is pretty expensive in Canada, and I suspect the Nomad is much more affordable.

I've only got a few miles on the new bike, so far, no thanks to the weather, but so far I have been really enjoying it. It's more comfy than the Wing was. It handles as well as the Wing, and has has lower center of gravity, making it easier to handle at slow speeds, and it's stable and well planted on the road at speed. I can't wait for the weather to improve so I can get out and do a lot of riding.

BandC--where in the Iron Range are you located? I was born in Virginia, MN, but my home town is Ely. I haven't lived there since I was 5 years old, when we moved to Alaska, where I lived for 51 years, but the Range is where Ihail from originally.

Welcome to the Nomad Nation from the Grand Canyon State!

I've been to Boise/Meridian several times. My wife has family in that area. Nice country up there.
