Black Safety Reflective Tape

Does anyone know what chain stores carry this tape? I would order online but I heard that some of the tapes are not really black in the daylite so wanted to look at it first hand.

I have looked at NAPA,Autozone, and Baxter's but they don't have the black reflective....I think the "good" stuff is 3m Scotchlite but I am not sure...anyone got any input?

Thanks

I think Dan Lund has it on his bike if I remember correctly. He should know where to get it.
There are some pics of it posted somewhere on this sight.

I got some of the good stuff, its black as spades in the daylight. The backing says:

"3M
ScotchliteTM Plus
680 Series Reflective Sheeting

With ContoltacTM Adhesive"

Got it on line but don't recall where. Will post if I come across it.

I was looking into that too. Every site I found that had it listed it as their least reflective of all colors available. Kind of made me wonder.

Reflective tape comparison -

Jacket hanging on the windshield has the 3M black reflective tape, as does the back of the passenger seat. In daylight this stuff is blacker than the jacket or the seat.

The 1/2 dome helmet setting on the passenger seat has silver (looks silver in the sunlight) reflective tape as do the turn signal stems and the top of the license plate. It looks just a little brighter.

The bottom of the rear fender has red reflective tape and in the middle of the rear finder is the stock tail lens reflector (VN800B)

flash pic taken in a dark garage, if that's not obvious.

WARNING - photographs can lie, especially in this case. The camera's pixels can be saturated in the brightest areas so that they do not look much or any brighter than a surface reflecting much less light. This should be taken again with either a dimmer flash or at a greater distance to reduce that possibility. Given some time, I might play with that.
