Wow! I have to admit to being under educated about GA history. Being the curious type that I am, I had to find out what "Nacoochee Valley" was all about. I'm sure others are wondering too so here are a couple of links for your reading pleasure. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sautee_Nacoochee,_Georgia provides some history of the area and http://www.studentsfriend.com/feed/topic11.html is a treatment of the BCE/CE dating system. Search engines provide numerous other links but these will get you started with a basic understanding of the origin of the valley name.

So my answer is: "It depends." What are we trying to do with the name, start conversations (Where is that?) or provide a geographical reference (Georgia Alpine). Frankly as a recent returnee to the "right" coast I'd ask the same question to both names although Georgia Alpine at least narrows it down to a particular state. The last rally I went to was the "Bash in the Bitterroots." That name engenders the same question, "Where is that?" unless you are a local or have an interest in northwest history.

Thinking about all this, I'm for the conversation starter, "Nacoochee Valley Rally."

Hey Ronald, I'll be tent camping at Unicoi State Park. I have a riding buddy that will be using a leisure lite camper. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Hampton Inn

Not wanting to be Johnny come lately, I went ahead and booked a room at the Hampton.

In the process of doing that I followed the advice given to me when I arrived on the Gulf Coast this past summer; "Always ask for a military discount." The Inn's website lists several discounts most of which are 10%. They also have a 15% discount for military active duty and retired. I don't know how much they will discount a block of rooms but if you have a military ID card you may want to keep this in mind.

Hey Goose, I don't get on here as often as I used to so sorry it's couple weeks delay for my response. I will be at the rally and will stay at the Hampton host hotel. I will just be one person unless I meet a hitch hiker along the way. I may well arrive there Sunday evening the way things look now as will pull out of SC Rally in Salem Mo Sat morning and even wandering slow it is less than 2 full days to Helen. I haven't made any reservations at the Hampton yet. It looked like you guys were still working with them to get a block of rooms? Can one of you all email me as soon as Hotel is ready for us to reserve. Email is trosschess@hotmail.com Thanks all.
