My first bike was a KZ1000A2. They were great bikes, but putting Vaquero tuperware on it just doesn't work. They are a UJM more than a touring bike or sport tourer. Someone mentioned a ZRX1200R, which would be a good choice as they make Givi bags and mounts for it. We already have a C14...If you live in Canada, you can buy the Versys 1000, which has the Ninja 1000 engine in a UJM/Adventure touring frame. Very cool.

The problem with a KZ1000P is that it is a 1980 technology bike. As good as it was, it wouldn't be my first choice to do a four corners tour. That four gallon gas tank has to be a real downer...

The C14 is a great bike. if the ergos were more straight up, I would have bought one. On the other hand, it's not in the same class with the K1600 from a features and performance perspective. Price either, but you get what you pay for.

Pretty sure it works in my head! . . . and my not-to-scale, no-hardware-needed, not-limited-to-reality picture I made.
Maybe this is a more accurate depiction of my make believe: There's still some exhaust work to do

Imagining stuff is one thing, making it reality is another. I am sure you can customize a KZ1000P into an uber bagger. May be a sketch pad is in order.

I just try not to let analysis-paralysis inhibit creative thoughts

My buddy has a K1600GT. That thing is the real deal. It can fly and the ergos are outstanding. If I hit the lotto or if I can sell a couple kids, I may get one some day.

I like your idea
but a ZRX would be a much better platform. It has a steel frame and would be easy to modify to work with nomad tins. And i already have most of a vaquero faring built
ZRX's go for around $2,000. That's not to bad just need a set of nomad tins.

It can be a problem, I know from experience, but I tend to be slightly left brained anyway.

Creativity takes on many forms. It's not just fine art and music, etc.

I would get the GT before the GTL too. The GTL seat sits too low and it locks the rider in. Both are pretty expensive though and I'd have to get a job first before buying one.

I think it still comes with an 8-track player in it. These bikes haven't changed much in 20 years.

30 years now...They stopped making them in 2005. Little changed and there are plenty available.

Zzr1200

I traded my ZZR1200 for the Nomad I have now.
For touring I had Corbin Beetle Bags on it.I had Just picked up a Monakey Top Box but never installed it. It made high speed S.T.

The ZZR1200 was basically a larger displacement ZX11D. It leaned on the sport side of sport tourer.
