Hey NyhtRyder, you're way outside of my league on this one. But I can't wait to see how this turns out. And since you and I are both from the Indy area, perhaps I can get a first-hand look.

Keep us posted.

I see the image of trunk that looks like two bags side-by-side (only shorter in height). If that is what you are talking about... it would be similar to a custom pull-trailer I saw a guy have that he made. He also emulated the look of the saddlebags (same paint as the bike also) -- which looked really cool (I couldn't get a picture and asked him to post on this site; but he didn't).
This is the one you're thinking about I believe. He's from Sweden and posts as Lasse.

I tried fitting the trunk and wompus rack on the bike today...It is going to have to be squared off on the front so it will fit on the wompus rack. Otherwise it will not have enough flat surface on the bottom to attach to the rack. But, I'm still leaving the shape of the trunk as it is on the sides and going to taper the square front into the sides. More pics to follow soon.

Sounds interesting.

I cheated though.

I've found that Yamaha Venture trunks have lines that really suit the Nomad. I started out with one from an 80's model that really worked but then someone else's misfortune gave me a shot at a 2005 model and the speakers in the armrests were just too much to resist. A trip to a local machine shop where I was able to get a bolt on adapter to to let the Yamaha trunk bolt on to the Kawasaki mounts. The bolt on is so I can take it off and turn it back onto a Nomad from the current Yamasaki configuration. It's the same reason I picked the Hoppe fairinf. I can take it off and go back to the stock.

But then I'm lazy and don't have the energy or the imagination to come up with something from scratch. Good luck and keep us posted.

Wow that's more c-clamps than I've ever seen in one place! Seriously, can't wait to see the finished product. Wish I had that kind of talent with wood. I'm more torch-welder, nuts-bolts. Oh and hammer can't forget the BFH.

Great looking project you got going there. Look forward to the finished product.

Instead of the Wompus bracket, make your own like I did. You can custom fit it to you trunk.

http://home.insightbb.com/~kpmh.010/N-TourPak.htm

Scroll down to the bottom of the site and you'll see the brackets I made. Maybe that'll help.

I've already purchased the wompus rack for this trunk. Thanks for the advice though.

I'm almost to the point of enclosing the sides and cutting out the door. Then I can start fiberglassing. Will probably do the inside first.
