Bring rain gear, but you probably already know that since you live fairly close.

Yeah, I always have some form of rain protection on the bike. Do I need to do that VBA release form and all that?

I take one in case they ask. Like CJ said, you live close so you may be aware of the changing weather conditions. The only thing I haven't sen is snow,,, yet.

This will be a great first rally for you.
I wouldn't be ashamed to bring my Grandma to it.

Oh, brang a folding chair, and remind me to brang one too.

Typically, Thursday we ride the Talimena Scenic Byway.
The next day is usually an off day. Some ride in small groups, some go to the deer fesitval directly accross the street from the base hotel. Others have gone to the bigfoot festival.
Vic usually does a barbeque for this second day.
Saturday is also a riding day and varies year to year.
Then everyone heads home on Sunday.

Riding is good but more importantly, the people are good. Its an opportunity to make some very good friends.

My wife and I come from the KC area and generally spend Tuesday evening in Pittsburg with Griz, OmahaShadow, and friends. Then we head down to the rally on Wednesday. We often head South on 43 and you could join up with us if you like.

I think attendance will likely be around 30-40. We generally fill the host motel. Its a basic mom and pop place, but the owner bends over backwards for our rally.

You will definitely meet a great group of folks at this Rally. Hosts Victor and Katy treat everyone like royalty. The VBA founder and Past President will be there as well as several other "Legendary" members . Gibby and Ray are riding all the way from Minnesota and Illinois to attend.

If you are interested in coming over to Pittsburg Tuesday evening, a small group of us will eat supper somewhere then we can make plans on meeting up Wednesday for the ride down. It will be a great time!

Here's a route that we've used in the past.

This would be easy enough to modify to meet up on 43 near Petro truck stop. We've also gone down 43/59 on the Missouri side then over to Talequah.
