Mixture screw

I bribed a mate to make an extender for my mixture screw, but in the proccess the moron buggered up the thread. ( should have given him the bottle after ) Anyone know what size and pitch die i need to run it through,i am hoping i can reclaim it. The bike is a 1999 Nomad with a Keihin CVK40 carb.

Use a pitch gage, unless all the threads are damaged to the point one won't fit.

Mick, many decent tap and die sets come with them, metric and SAE. I'd be lost without them. It is best to hold the screw and gage up to the light, the right one and only the right one will fit like a glove. Good luck.

I ordered a set of el cheapo tap's & dies from the Chinaman on ebay, but no guage's with it,so i ordered some seperate.I just got a new rubber washer for the mixture screw from my local un-friendly dealer,so i am hoping that in a few day's i can finally get the bike running as it should. Then all i need is a back brake. Thank's for your help mate.

Seeing as its a Keihin is should be metric ?

As a rough guide an M5 thread will be around 3/16ths outside diameter.
M6 is close to a 1/4.
M8 is near 5/16ths.

Sweaty, there you go with the metric/imperial stuff again. It's metric mate, and i think m4 or m5 thread, but i aint sure if there are variation's on the pitch. I've had the carb off this thing so many time's,i can do it in the dark. The dopey twat that did the work for me put the thread in the chuck and made a total bollock's of it.Thick Brummie bastard.

Look at the chart.

M4 is either 0.35 or 0.5 pitch
M5 is 0.5 pitch ie 2 threads per millimetre
