Rain X use or not use...

I was told that rain X can burn a plastic shield, unless said shield is rated for it's use. Any comments on that? :-/

I cleaned the windshield and waxed it with a liquid wax like Mothers and after that I use the Honda spray cleaner to get the bugs off.

Rain X use or not use...

I just started using RainX, and so far I don't notice anything different on the windsheild at all. Ive put it on about 3 times so far the last couple weeks. However in the rain the stuff is fantastic, I rode a few times in the rain this week and the water blows off the windsheild like its a summer day. I really like it compared to not using anything. Time will tell if it hurts the plastic but so far no problems.

I'd had my bike about three months and went to the Honda hoot, ran across a great product to clean and polish the bike.

Used it on the windshield to, made it super clean, about 2 months after I started using it in the middle of shield where the bolts are I had cracks forming and spreading across the shield. Took it to dealer and first thing he asked was what was I using to clean it? He said Kawasaki recommends using nothing but soap and water. Well they did replace it under warranty and since then I haven't used anything but that, 5 years later no more cracks.

I still use Tha BOM on the rest of the bike

I generally use only a soft, wet rag to loosen the bugs and grime and follow that with a microfiber towel. Everything comes off, and the shields stay looking like new. Even when traveling, a damp rag in a ziplock bag travels well.

I'm a rainx guy. The owner befor me used it (5 yrs) and its as good as a 7 yr shield could be.

Scoot, the threat re "windshield bolt probs" talks about over torqued bolts etc, Im sure your dealer didnt put that forward as a cause for your probs!!

I started to buy some rain x for mine. Read the bottle like Doc says , it states on the bottle not to use on plastic. I bought some ARMOR ALL window cleaner and use a soft rag. Works great with no streaking at all.
