I have been in discussions with Rickyboy about doing a combined 2012 Rally with the Western Canadian Region. They would like to host the rally, most likely somewhere between Banff and Calgary, Alberta....possibly in the Kananaskis area just west of Calgary.

While your first thought may be that seems like the North Pole....it is only 975 miles from Rawlins, Wyoming and about 915 from Klamath Falls, OR...the furthest reaches of our NW Region. Most everyone could reach it in two long days ride, or three short ones....nearly the same as Crescent City.

Attendance would require acquiring a Passport if you don't already have one, but you have a year to get it if you need one. They are good for ten years and you should have one anyways, regardless if you would plan to attend or not.

I would appreciate feedback from the NW members if they would support the idea and plan to attend. I can assure you the scenery up that way is spectacular and well worth the effort to make the run.

This would be the first KawaNOW Rally in Western Canada and it would be awesome for the NW group to support them. Many of the Western Canadian members attended the NW Regional Rally in Kalispell in 2010 as well as the Redwoods Rally in Crescent City in August 2011. Together we could have a nice showing and a great rally.

Let me know what you think either in this thread or via a PM, but I do appreciate your feedback as we hope to make firm plans in the very near future to secure sufficient lodging for the group.

I'm in!

(Unless of course I have to pay for another funeral. Do your family a favor and make arrangements ahead of time)

i have ridden a fair bit around alberta and b.c. and it is indeed a beautifull area but a long way off for our southwest brothers and some members
who may have had a dwi in thier past would be denied entry into canada.
it also tends to be very expensive compared to the states which in this economy would place an extra burden on our members.as for me i will keep an open mind as to rally location.i do know that i can not go to any rallies in august next year as i will be fishing in ontario, canada at that time.

Looks like a nice area in August. I looked at possible scenic routes to get there. I would be tight on time but can make it work.

Landman,
The SW guys are doing their own rally somewhere in Arizona...so we need not worry so much about them...but if someone has any outstanding warrants or other issues to be denied entry into Canada....well...not sure what to say about that.... .

Ummm, uh, "You have the right to remain silent?" :)

Rally in western Canada sounds good to us! Once again we'll try to make it.

Those "rights" do no live in CA. And, most likely it is crime to give false info. Just saying ;)

I wonder if there is a way to contact Canadian Customs online or something to check if there are any problems that would prevent you from making the trip ahead of time...?? Seems like that would be a BS reason to keep someone out, especially if it was so long ago....

CBSA Kris, don't need a passport, just drivers license and birth certificate, and I don't see anywhere that a DUI prevents entry, but there are #'s to call on there???

The USA is harsher than Canada when it comes to entering it's borders. Passport only.
