water pump

Anybody here ever changed a water pump? Got a 05 1600 Nomad. Shop says it could run around $2000.

The water pump is easy to change. The water pump seals rive and inner oil seal are harder to change by the book.

No need to split the case to change the water pump..... What is exactly the problem ?

Overheats. Checked the thermostat and cap. Both are OK.

Check the radiator to make sure that it's not fouled/plugged. Also, check the fan and the fan switch to ensure that they are working properly. I have an 01 and she would overheat. Turned out the fan switch was bad, $52 fix.

When was the last coolant change ?

And pull the grill off. Start the engine and hold the top rad hose till it gets hot. Once it does feel with care for your hand(s) lower and lower on the rad seeking cold spots. And IF the coolant was just changed did you bleed the water pump (1500's and 1600's) and the T stat housing ( 1500's) ? And yeah ck the sender switch in the rad by jumping the wires with eh key on. That should make the fan go on a cold engine . And how did you ck the T stat?
