installing a 3 pouch windshield bag on a regular windshield?

Is anyone here running with a 3 pouch windshield bag installed on a regular windshield? If so, I am curious which bag you bought and how you mounted it. Did you sandwich it between the windshield and the chrome strip or on the outside of the strip?

Mine is homemade, and it is mounted on the outside of the chrome strip - I can't imagine any bag mounting between the strip and windshield.

ps - You can make any bag "fit" if you have your own grommet kit!

Mine is just a fanny pack from Ebay with the straps cut off and grommets added.

Martin you'll have to make sure the backing reaches to the screw holes that you are going to use on the sides and in the middle. Then just line it up with the holes and mark the spots with a drill bit and then drill out the holes. The bags are flexible enough to wrap the inside of the windshield. If you want to hide the mounting you could sandwich it between the glass and the chrome pieces on the inside of the windshield. You will need longer bolts no matter which way you mount it.

To mount one like the one that's on my bike you would have to trim the bottom of the bag mounting so that it doesn't come down below the bags and the bolts would be hidden underneath. Similar to the way a single bag would work. If your wife has a measuring tape in her sewing kit the ask her to borrow it and I'll send you the side to side measurements of the bag.

The backing on my windshield bag is 21" side to side according to the sewing tape measure. A little less on the bottom of the pouches.

This is the bags that I have.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You can see in the first picture that the backing hangs down below the pouches. You would want to cut that level with the pouches otherwise you would see it hanging way down.

I had some foolish bag there on my 01 1500 and hated it being bolted in place. It was hell to get into it. The 1600 I have does in fact have a 6 dollar ladies black purse that i gutted and it just sits between the risers and the screen. When I want something I just pick it up and open it like a MAN

I use a Hopnel windshield bag on my 1600 - slotted tab inserted over the bolts between windshield and inside frame - available at most online accessory stores here's a link to one.

This bag is designed for windshields and not fairings. Should fit yours with no problem. I'm thinking of getting this one for myself also.

This is what I had on my windshield http://www.kuryakyn.com/products/399...ch-fairing-bag

When I got my Reckless fairing I just transferred it to it. When I mounted it on the windshield I did as HwyRider mentioned.

Now that right there is one excellent reason we're all glad to see you back on top of your game and back at home in here Mac. I needed a good laugh after an unusually bad day dealing with other people's crap at work... So thanks!

Brilliant idea mate I've just ordered one,i am going to bolt a section of an old leather belt to the screen and fix Velcro to it and the bag, that way i can take it off easily and strap it to my arse when i park up
