Seems like the BMW crowd is pretty loyal too. A local guy I know won't buy anything else.

I am not in the market right now but you never know in a few years I might get this bike, until then I can daydream about it.
I've sat on both the GT and GTL and the GTL sits a lot lower and the seat to peg relationship is different. The GTL is more like a GW, which is a little goofy to me. The GT is like the RT in seating position. At least it felt that way.

It wins on price and speed.
You mean the FJR.

Lots of folks in my local BMW club either have a FJR too or changed to one.

3. The FJR is faster and is a very sweet bike with many of the updates Honda should have added to the ST1300 by now . Love the 2014 Red FJR. I am going to a Yamaha demo days this weekend to ride the FJR and Super Tenere. I better leave my checkbook at home.

Ok... That post should get a fish on from the peanut gallery!. I love playing with them, they are so predictable.

As of now I am trending BMW.
Just save some money for the 18K mile maintenance and every 18K miles after that. The valve check and adjustment gets pricey. There is a forum, the K1600 Forum, that you should join to get more details. It's a great forum.

It's a weird deal. I've had a few issues with it, the last one where the pulleys on the throttle bodies broke. Boy was I pissed. Then I ride it and I understand why I still do. The krauts know how to build an excellent combination that functions extremely well. They are very competent bikes, but they require more attention than any cruiser. Trosco said it best, he said it's like having a talented in bed(I toned this down) german gymnast as a girlfriend that likes pearls and diamonds. For me though, the new ones are getting expensive. I paid 19K out the door with a BMW 49L topcase. Can't touch that anymore. That said, there are some real kool-aid drinkers on the BMW forums. They will put up with any non-sense that breaks, but I guess they make a lot more money than I do. I am not the typical beemer owner.

I was looking on the BMW site and see they have a program that is almost like leasing. After riding a couple of years you can decide to sell it, buy it, trade it in on a newer model.

This is something that I would definitely be interested in.

You may want to read the fine print on that. It has a balloon payment at the end. I remember some members discussing it and it wasn't everything some wanted. I went with traditional financing through BMW.

Yep. Thanks Jim. These are similar numbers to what I posted in post #72. This confirms that the ST 1300 is faster/quicker than the 1600 GTL.

Brad...no need to apologize. You can just buy me a drink in Tahoe  :p

If the times come that I am ready to pull the trigger than I will go deeper into what are my best options are at that time.

Just checking some of the numbers and it looks like that after 4 years on the lease and then if I decide to buy, it is about $1000 more in Total cost then if you go traditional financing after 5 years.
I would need to factor in the 1 year older for the financing bike compared to the leased bike and it might be even.

I could just buy it outright, so the balloon payment isn't a factor but I really like the option to change bikes after 4 years.

We'll see! Time to start day dreaming!

You said a 1600 BMW. The K1600 GT is faster. I win again!

We split. Faster than a GTL but slower than the GT. You won one and I won one.....enough of this crap...let's go drink Kris's moonshine.

Greg and Brad, easy solution: Race for the tie breaker. Having heard BD go on and on about his CCT's power and acceleration, I'm sure poor Greg wouldn't stand much of a chance, but just go for it; faster bike wins, loser buys the drinks.

Wish I could be there to buy one for both of you!
