2012 Rally, thoughts and suggestions

If those dates hold up, Lorrie and I will definately be attending.......We enjoyed the redwoods immensely and we know the Kananaskis area pretty well and we know that there are many good riding trails in that area for day rides and such. The nights get cool in the mountains but that just makes for good sleeps. We'll keep an eye on this thread and are already looking forward to then.

I just did a four day ride thru that area and stayed in Canmore. Extremely scenic with roads heading to Glacers park, Jasper, Banff, Calgary, Lake Louise,Fairmont hot springs. Take your camera and make plenty of stops to check out the scenery. Great food choices too. Mid July to early august are the best time to go for temperatures. Let us not forget...we are in the Rockie mountains, so temperatures can vary at high altitudes thru the mountain ranges. Bdog

I vouch for the temps in the summer. I was in Canmore and surrounding area in July and wore jeans, long sleeves and a jacket most of my time there. Great area!

I wanted everyone to know that "The Rally in the Rockies" information page is up to look at. I took this from Kris's post on his NW grps page.

"we now have the official 2012 Regional Rally information page available....although still a work in progress. You can now reserve your room as we have solidified our lodging for the rally. There are numerous types of rooms in the block, so reserve early to make sure you get what you want.

Also....there is a meeting room for up to 25 people (The Guides Room) that we will have exclusive use of during the rally for gathering over cocktails in the evenings! It has table and chairs, a kitchen, a bar, a fireplace....etc."

We are wondering because both of us are thinking about riding out for your rally. Don't want to have to cancel and lose a ton of money on rooms.

Hey if you're planning on making the trip to The Canadian Rockies Rally next summer there will probably still be an issue with this........

Good morning!
There is a 48hr. cancelation policy for the "ski lodge". But if you are booking at the last minute and there is still "room at the inn", they will give you the special rate we were able to get. They are holding the 30 rooms for up till 2 weeks prior to our event, by the way. After that period they'll be opening the remaining rooms to the general public. I hope that helps.
