I'm Back in the saddle again. Mike (kawhead) called the other night and told me about the National Rally being held in Maggie Valley this year. So I called got us a room for the whole week and looking forward to seeing our old friends and some new ones. Yes, Kawgirl I am still alive. Haven't seen you since the last time we were in Maggie Valley. Hope to see everyone in June at the rally.

Cactusjack, had some health problems (knee surgery and then a small stroke) for the last year or so and just hadn't been on here at all. But it's good to be back in the saddle again.

I had a stroke 2 years ago, know how difficult the process becomes.
Glad you are doing well enough to get back at it.

Glad you seem to be doing better and hope to make it up to Maggie Valley in June. Strokes can be devasting. I have a sister-in-law that had one. She has slurred speech, and can't use one leg and one arm.

Guess I am very lucky. Back in 1997 my nose started bleeding at work. It stopped and I didn't think anything about it. Later that night the wife and I were watching Cool Hand Luke on video and it started bleeding again. It was bleeding profusely and wouldn't stop. Wife got me a towel and helped me get dressed and she drove me to the emergency room. My blood pressure was out of sight. Probably hadn't been checked in a year or two. Called in an ear, nose and throat specialist. He packed my nose and blew up a little baloon type device inside my nose. Kept me for four nights. Told me if my nose had ruptured like it did I would have had a massive stroke. I feel fortunate to be amongst the living.

Glad you had a warning sign some people don't get any signs at all. I was lucky that I got back to the house before it got bad and called 911. I was home by myself and had just got of the tractor and was going to the house when it hit me. I knew what was happening and got in the house and called for help. I was in the ER in about 20 minutes and they starting shooting all kinds of drugs in me and that is what saved me from getting a hard hit.

I feel lucky and blessed to be able to do everything I used to do once again.

Guess we are both fortunate to be amongst the living. At least I feel I am. My top blood pressure was close to 300. The thing is I didn't feel bad or anything. When the vessel in my nose ruptured was the first sign anything was wrong. Lucky my wife panics at everything. I would probably have just kept a towel on my nose and just sat there and bled to death.

Glad you have all the same functions you had before. Anyone that goes through a stroke and comes out almost as good as new are really lucky.

I had just gotten off the tractor from plowing. As I was walking back to the house I got a very intense sharp pain in my head felt like a bullet would feel I guess. Pain was very, very intense. then my vision started to get fuzzy and my right arm started to get numb along with the right side of my face. I sat down on the porch steps for a second and realized what was happening. I am a retired Law Enforcement Officer and was a certified EMT so I had seen this before and knew what was happening. So I managed to get up and get in the house, the phone is right inside the back door and I grabbed it and hit 911. I was home alone and I couldn't tell the dispatcher my name or anything, I was hyper-ventilating by then and about to pass out. The Volunteer FD Rescue came in about 10 minutes and started with 100% O2. Then they transported me to the ER, there they gave me 2 shots in the stomach one on each side. Ran some more tests got me stable then transported me to another hospital about 45 miles away that had a Neurological and Stoke Facility. I stayed there for 4 days then I went into some rehab. Had trouble speaking but my speech came back in about 2 weeks or so. The use of my arm and legs were better after 4 days and I could walk. After that it was just working at home and taking the Meds. They had a hard time keeping my blood pressure stable and it took them about a year for it to stabilize and get my medication right. But I am doing fine now and can ride the bike with 2 up with no problem and I fell really good now. But since the stroke I didn't really associate with any of the clubs that I belonged to including posting on here. I had trouble with my thoughts and getting things straight. But all is good now and I'm back to almost normal, however several people on here will tell ya I've never been normal. lol. So that is the story.

Glad to be back and feeling blessed.
