My Nomad is Gone
Miraculously I walked away unharmed except for a lot of soreness in my knee and foot. A couple of Fridays ago I was sitting at a red light minding my own business when I hear a crash. The next thing I know I am standing over my bike trying to figure out why it is on the ground. The crash I heard was a car hitting the SUV behind me. The SUV was pushed into me and I was pushed into the car in front of me. It all happened in the blink of an eye and there was nothing that I could do about it. I really believe that something that I learned in my basic Motorcycle Safety Course saved me. I always stay the far left or right of a lane when at a red light. The idea is that you have an exit in an emergency but I never had the chance of exit plus you stay out of the oil. When I was pushed (very hard) into the car my bike was to the right so my crash bars hit the bumper along with the fairing (that i just installed 2 days earlier) instead of the complete fork and tire. When the bars hit I was thrown out of the way to the right. Afterwards I thanked the lady in the SUV for being there. I might not be here to type this if she was not. Not sure where I am going with this post except to make people more aware and to be safe. You could be the safest rider and some things are just out of your control. The hardest part of the accident for me was the phone call to my wife. By the way, I am shopping for a new ride so everything is good. Stay Safe.

Glad to hear you made it out alright, and I'm sorry about your bike. I'm here because this Nomad is replacing the Virago that was taken from me last year in an accident. You're right, sometimes you don't get really have any say in the situation. Things can happen pretty quickly.
Hope finding another bike goes well for you.

Welcome to the 'Dropped It Club'.
About 8 years ago the SUV wasn't there for me. All I remember is wondering why I was looking up at the sky. I was lucky, I was able to limp the bike home after pulling the rear fender back out. The kid said that he didn't see me. Get the knee looked at NOW!!!!!! Mine started bothering me later on, just a little past the deadline to put in an insurance claim on it. I'm finally seeing the ortho Doc this coming Friday. Get it looked at NOW!!!! I'm glad you made it through relatively well. As I'm sure you've been told, the bike can be replaced. MT

Thank goodness you walked away from it, sorry about your bike, but it can be replaced. Appreciate you posting this it gives all of us something to think about, and no body is bullet proof no matter how safe you think you are. Every body, be careful.

Oops. I hate when that happens. Glad you're alive. Hope that driver has great insurance. With MAS, get checked out if you haven't already.

What Mas says and buy a lotto ticket! Glade to hear you are ok. Bummer on the bike, but it's only metal and metal can be replaced.

Sorry to hear about this but like all the others I'm glad you are in relatively good shape. I hope you get the insurance money soon and can get back to riding again very soon. In the meantime see a Doctor about your knee.

There but for the grace of God go most of us. We do the best defensive riding we can but the situation we all fear is the idiot behind us.
Years ago while my driving on I 64 in morning traffic to the Norfolk Naval Base with my wife we came upon an accident where a motorcyclist had been hit from behind in bumper to bumper traffic by some brain dead inattentive moron. We drove around the wreck as my wife looked into the eyes of the biker and with horror told me he was dead. She was correct. It was a USMC Major with a wife and kids. My wife never got over that terrible incident and from then on I resolved to always keep to the far right in traffic in the event that some jug headed wing nut is not paying attention. I'm so glad you escaped with only a bent bike.

As all the others have said.
Glad you're ok. Sorry about the bike. Get checked out by a doctor. Not just the knee, completely.

Good to hear that your ok. The bike can be replaced, and your relatively in not bad shape. It could have been much worse.
