How many Nomads out there?

I was at a charity ride this weekend along with nearly 8,000 other bikers. Among the sea of beautiful bikes, most of which were HDs, I made a point to search out the Nomads. Sadly I only saw 5 others. While there were certainly more than what I saw, it was conspicuous to me Nomads are not well represented. This is echoed in my day-to-day observations, having seen only 1 other Nomad during the past month in my daily travels.

One would reasonable expect to see more Nomads out there given how well they are received as a touring cruiser. So, I wonder if my observations hint of a regional anomaly or are representative of a greater whole. What are your observations? How many Nomads do you see routinely? Why, if your observations are similar to mine, are Nomads not more represented?

Everybody is brain washed into thinking that there is nothing better than a Harley. Or forced to buy a Harley do to peer pressure. Of course now I am so sick of what we call the Harley attitude that you could not give me one if I had to ride it.

Other than going to Texas VROC meets, I have only seen 4 Nomads in the year and half I've had mine. At the VROC meets there are more Nomads than any other type of Vulcan. Otherwise, it's a special event when I see one.

I've always did my own thing even back in school. I did look somewhat at an HD 883L for the wife.

I saw my first Nomad yesterday, that's the first, otherwise it's mostly HDs. My wife still is riding her Sportster, you see a lot of women on them around here.

I must be lucky. I have seen quite a few out on the road. When I first got mine, pulled into a gas station and right behind me was another one. Just the other day I think I saw three of them on the road.

How many Nomads out there?

Except for HSVROC, I can count the Nomads I've seen in the past 5 years on one hand. Add a couple Classics,a VN900, an 800, and a Drifter, and you have maybe 10 Vulcans.

At Rumble to the Summit I watched 3500 bikes parade by. Not one of them was a Nomad. Just a handful were Japanese Cruisers. 95% were Harleys.

This is definately a Harley town.

How many Nomads out there?

I have talked with 3 on the road in the past year. I have seen at least a dozen others and there is a guy that works for one of my customers who drives one.
Not the most common. Then again, I didn't buy this to be just like everyone else.

Good point Damark. I too like being unique. But I would have enjoyed speaking with another Nomad owner at the rally.

I don't see too many other than here in our little town. The population of our town here is about 1100, and there are three Nomads. Other than that, I rarely see any others when traveling here in ND.

How many Nomads out there?

I personally know several people in my area who ride Nomads. I belong to a big riding club. Most rides are anywhere from 20-50 bikes. There's usually 2-3 Nomads on any given ride, including mine. Last Sunday, we had 52 bikes and 3 were Nomads. 70% of the group ride Harleys.

There are 4.5 million or so people in the greater Phoenix area, and a lot of bikers, due to the year-round riding.

I would like to see more people riding Nomads. Everybody should own one.

Look at the 1600 Nomad for just a minute. For around $13,000 you get a really good running bike. All the extras: Windshield, Lowers, Highway Bar, Floor Boards Passenger Back Rest and 2 large Saddle Bags that DON'T leak. What other bike on the market today gives you all that for that price. Now add in the fact that the bike is liquid cooled and has shaft drive. Of course I am preaching to the chior here. I can't believe the bike is not a bigger seller.

How many Nomads out there?

I seem to see a fair amount of them here in Northern California. I went to a MC Expo last Sunday, and as I parked two more pulled up and parked next me. I saw several others there too.

I see them periodically. I'm glad I've had three Harley's in the past and don't have the need to have one now. I was apprehensive about buying a metric when I first did due to a false pride for Harley's. Today I'm very pleased I don't own a Harley like everyone else. I have developed a love for the uniqueness, quality and class of a Nomad.
