Spark Plugs

For those of you needing spark plugs, I would like to suggest getting a set (4) of Autolite Iridium XS 4164 plugs. I just put a set into my 2003 1500, and can honestly say the bike runs better. The idle right off was much faster than with the old plugs, which were in the bike when I bought it and actually did not look very used at all. I don't have a lot of miles on them yet as the weather has gone south for the past two weeks, but if you are in need of plugs, give them a try. They sell for $5.99 a piece, and Autolite is offering a rebate of $2 per plug until the end of November 2010. I could only find them at NAPA where they had to order them and I got them the next day. The XS 4164 model fits 1500 and 1600 models up to 2005 which is all the listing shows. The website is: http://www.autolite.com/pdf/autolite5_rv5_0223.pdf

What does the "XS" stand for? That PDF shows the standard plug as "4164" and the premium plug as "MP4164.

The XS stands for Xtreme Sport. So for an Iridium plug, you would want a XS4164.

Im using the NGK Iridium plugs, and while I can't say I noticed a difference after installing them, they do seem to work well.

Ordered a set of these from amazon on a whim, couldn't find any good reviews and then came across this post. They're for my 06 nomad 1600. Glad you find them awesome, that makes me feel like it was a good decision.

interesting report .. my 1700 came with iridium NGK and I suspect all do .. a while back I had some bad fuel issues so while fixing that I replaced the plugs @ 29000 mi
the plugs were not bad . I did it just because . paid extra for NGK because they or ND are designed for jap engines and sometimes it matters .. have seen engines that would not run on other brands of ignition parts .. the iridium should last a long long time
