I'm having a hard time finding the FULL synthetic oil in wally world. I also see where Shell is going to a 5W-40 instead of the 15W-40 as all were talking about earlier. I found the white gallon but thats not synthetic. Will the users change over to the 5W-40 when the older version is gone. I'm getting my info off the shell.com website. OR might go with Mobil 1 which is easy to find.

Doc, the syn was always 5w40 and the dino 15w40. I used both in my last bike and put the 15w40 dino in for my first change on the Nomad. The 15w40 is hard to beat for $8-9/gal. That and a $2.44 Supertech filter gives you a whopping total of around $12 for an oil change that's hard to beat.

Mobil 1 is a great choice but pricey. That and Amzoil are the best for holding their viscocity. You can mix 2 quarts Mobil1 10w40 and 2 quarts 20w50 and end up with 15w45 which you could probably use year round.

I just had Rotella T 5w40 put in the bike with a Supertech filter today. It seems to shift smoother than with the Pennzoil I was using in it. Rotella is expensive compared to it. $15.24 a gallon.

You're right BD, they do look a little too similar. Clones perhaps?

I run the Shell Blue jug Full Synthetic and I am very pleased with the results.

My WalMart puts it in a different spot. They have an end cap with this oil on it and the dino version is in with the other oils.

Don't know if that helps but you should be able to find it.

Shifts WAY better and runs cooler as well.

Cheers!

Hey Doc, thanks for the Pennzoil warning. A friend of mine had a 99 Nomad and that's what he ran in his. He said synthetic made his slip. That was the reason I went with Pennzoil. The Rotella T so far has been real smooooooooth. I haven't ridden many miles on it yet though. I'll found out in the mountains starting Wednesday.

I see the resemblence to Trip as well. I wondered if others did. Now I know.
