Yuasa YTX20CH-BS Battery

Now that the weather is a bit cooler ;) , My bike is cranking a bit slower. My factory battery is 5 years old (not bad for one that has never been on a charger), and I started looking for a replacement. I was wanting a Yuasa YTX20CH-BS Battery, and the best over-all price I could find was on Ebay. I ordered it on Sunday, it was shipped on Monday, and I received it Tuesday morning . It came with the acid separate from the battery (which is what I was wanting). This way, you can store the battery indefinitely, until you need it Here's a link to it, and he only has 5 left. Just thought that at this time of the year, this might be of interest to someone.

Yu asa YTX20CH-BS Battery

Here's the specs. on it........

- Yuasa Part Number YTX20CH-BS.

- 12 Volt, Capacity AH 18.0, Reg Charge 1.8 Amp, C.C.A. 270.

Features:

- Delivers higher cranking amps for motorcycles that require extra starting power.

- Additional plates inside battery provide up to 30% more power.

- Comes with pre-measured acid pack.

- Most powerful motorcycle battery on the market.

- 12 months manufacturer's warranty.

Yuasa YTX20CH-BS Battery

Thats the same battery I just put in my bike a few months back Cliff. it was kinda odd to have to add acid and chg up first but kinda fun. it has worked beautifully too. Hope you like yours as much.

Yuasa YTX20CH-BS Battery

I'll be needing one in the spring, and I may just go that route with the Yuasa. My original battery is a AGM (absorbed glas mat) and Im debating whether or not I should stick with that type. Its been good for eight seasons, but was getting tired this fall. Maybe a trip to Reading Pa. is in order. ;)

Please forgive my ignorance, but what make one brand of batteries better than an other?

Yuasa YTX20CH-BS Battery

Utah, I can't say what makes one battery better than the next, but I can say that Yuasa has, perhaps the best reputation in motorcycle batteries, AND, they are made in the USA.

Doc, My old battery is still going strong. It checks out good, just that on that particular morning it was 34 degrees after a low in the mid 20s when I started it up, and had been sitting for 2 1/2 to 3 weeks without being started. I just thought that if I could get a battery that hadn't been activated yet, I could keep it until I needed it.... could be a month, could be 2-3 years, who knows. But I got this one sitting on a shelf for when I will need it. If I know I'm going to need something sooner or later, I like to go ahead and get it, that way I know I won't have to wait on it, and usually, when you need something, the prices have gone up. I still need to get a set of cam chain extenders, and a new clutch spring to set on the shelf beside the battery. ;)

Yuasa YTX20CH-BS Battery

The construction of the batter and the quality of the internal components is what makes some batteries better than others. If you have more plates and they are thicker, mounted in a more shockproof manner with better connections internally it will last longer because it will be able to withstand more vibration and sulphation. Cheaper batteries skimp on all of these features and then they can fail sooner, usually by having a dead cell or the connections breaking inside. At one time car and truck batteries were rebuildable, they could take the top off, replace the plates and terminals reseal the top with hot tar and refill them. Nowadays they are sealed so that they are not able to be opened up and serviced.

The higher the number of plates inside the battery, the better. Simple enough.

Yuasa YTX20CH-BS Battery

You can get the Motocross brand by Yuasa for about $20 cheaper. I cannot find a difference between the Yuasa model and the Motocross model by Yuasa other than the price and the name. This is what I found posted online when I did a search.
"

What is the difference between Yuasa and Motocross batteries?

Not much really. Motocross is manufactured in the same factory, the same assebly process, at the same time as the Yuasa. The only difference is the label applied at the end of the manufacturing process. Motocross came about as a way for Yuasa to enter the ever growing aftermarket, without disrupting their already established brick and mortar new bike dealerships. This allows them access to a much broader market share, at a much more reasonable price point."
