Sissybar/backrest for 02 Nomad

I apologize if this topic has been previously covered I tried searching the forum but didn't have much luck. I am looking to remove the Givi trunk on my 02 and add a sissy bar and rack in its place. I was wondering if anyone had an opinion or some advice on the best quality and fit. So far I have looked at the Jardine and Cobra, and I leaning toward the Cobra. Any help would be great, or if I am covering old ground, could someone point me to the right thread. Thanks Patrick

You may try posting in the for sale and wanted forum. Someone may have added a trunk and has one sitting in the garage. I have stock on my 2000.

Patrick, I can't speak for the cobra but the one I have and really like is the Jardine and I am talking about the adjustable one.

Just the push of a button and I'm set up for a passenger, or just flip it back and I have a backrest that is really comfortable.

On top of that you can get a brand new one now for $139 on E-bay

I have a tall Cobra and the Kawasaki Ultimate as above. I like the interchangeability of the Ultimate. Those on the pillion prefer the Cobra. Passengers complain the Ultimate pushes them too far forward. Also the Ultimate backrest cover had a couple of tears in the vinyl after the first use. I tried to warranty it with Kawasaki and the "stealer", but no luck even though in my initial conversions with Kawasaki said they would cover it as a warranty claim. I took the backrest cover to a leather repair shop and had a thin piece of leather stitched in and the tears sown up. The Ultimate is also heavy; about 23 lbs or so.

Once again thanks for the advice, looks like I will be going with the Cobra. The adjustable looks interesting, but I already have a back rest on my seat just need one for my passenger. Thanks again to all!

Okay, I have to revisit this one. I was down at the dealer today to pick-up some parts. I decided I would go ahead and order the Cobra sissy bar for my 02. When the guy tells me they have an Ultimate backrest that was ordered a while back for somebody who changed their mind and they would let me have it it for $99.00 (150 less than the cobra and rack is included) I bought it, but have not yet installed it. Has anybody out there ever used the Ultimate with a t-bag? Is it as secure as with a non-adjustable backrest?
