New Orleans
We're heading to the Crescent City next week. For those living in and around NOLA, any tips on sights, restaurants, jazz clubs, etc. or other must do's would be appreciated. We're flying in and the way it sounds, a vehicle isn't of a high priority as everything appears to be fairly close to our hotel on the French Quarter. Taxis and public transit will probably work for us.
This is a repost, didn't realize La. would be in the South Central group

Enjoy your stay...the food is great..the entetaiment is fine...use good judgement on where you -stumble into... |

I live about 50 miles SW of New Orleans. If you are staying in the French Quarter, there are excellent restaurants all around you. You will find any kind of club you are looking for on Bourbon Street. I suggest you stay in a group and don't wander off. New Orleans is a dangerous city. Shootings nearly every night although most are in the slums and are always tied in with drugs. If you do rent a car. Head West on I-10 to I-55 North. Stop by Middendorf's Seafood Restaurant at the Manchac exit. Fabulous thin fried catfish, fried shrimp, and fried oysters. Beer is always ice cold and the atmosphere is fantastic. Once you are seated, you will have your food less than 15 minutes after the waitress takes your order. Have a great time.

..Well if you rent a car---you Gotta Cruise the Causeway..north bound across Lake Pontchartrain ...make a U-turn on the north side and cruise back south bound..
I used to do a water take off over on the north east end of of the Big easy, at the Lake Front Airport..slip in low over to the causeway, and fly with a wing over the road across to the north side..pull up and go west to Lafayette ! The little kids in the cars traveling across would be thrilled as I skimmed slowly over them with my port side float about even with their windows...I'd throttle back to about 70 knots mph...and just go by slow...(good memories) Login or Register to Remove Ads |
