Region nickname??

I think Prarie Thunder sounds great. It speaks to the area, the weather and the riders. You guys came up with a good one. Can you please help us with a mascot idea for the Pacific Northwest group???

Actually Prairie Thunder is the name I stole, er borrowed from a local semi-pro hockey team.

Well if he wants it to be descriptive of the area it will need to mention RAIN.

Region nickname??

I guess when I think of prairie, I think of flat pasture land like the Kansas Flint Hills. Not all of this region is like this. My first thought was the High Plains Drifter which was also suggested earlier. Perhaps 'High Plains Thunder' would be another consideration????? Just a thought.

So now the vote is:
Prairie Thunder 6
High Plains Thunder 1

I always did pull for the underdog :)

OP; you can't vote two or three times now!!! You'll get us all confused!! Ha!

Gofs99 has a point to which I originally thought also -- the area of our region isn't really all completely "flat" or "prairie-like" thus maybe consideration should be given to a combination of the names as suggested.

Prairie Thunder
High Plains Thunder
North Plains Thunder
High Prairie Thunder
High Plains Drifters
North Plains Drifters
Rolling Plains Thunder
Rolling Prairie Thunder
Rolling Thunder

Just thought I would go ahead a "stir the pot" a bit more; but "hey" why not look at as many choices as possible?

:) As you suggest, other names besides "Prairie Thunder" would probably fit the total region better. Either way my vote can be bought for the right price. LOL

I didn't know we were actually voting. I thought we were still discussing wether or not to even have a nickname. If we decide we want one of the mods can post a poll with choices.

I think I am the only one that has voiced any opposition to a name. I really liked the forum the way it started, but it is changing into a different animal.I guess you could say it had a litter of pups.

OP; just joking with you on voting. You had stated in two posts that you liked two different names; so I was just having fun with the fact you seemed to like two different names -- no offense intended.

Regarding whether we are voting or not. Officially we are not yet. The "voting" referenced was just to get opinions on narrowing the choices down to just a couple -- or one. At that point we can open the official voting up for a defined period of time.

Picking a name was just a suggestion; and apparently so far the majority posting from this region like the idea of having a name.

Meanstreak; your vote has been duly noted.

I am starting to see the benefits of not having a nickname, as it just causes dissension among different opinions. I'm fine with a nickname or not, but I think we need to pick one or drop the idea altogether.

I honestly didn't think there would be this much of a response initially. I was more curious if our regional staff had ever discussed it. I both like and dislike the idea, and mostly for the same reason. To me it is kind of cool to have an individual name but then I think in a way it divides us as whole, meaning KawaNOW.
I don't know that I personally would like to see it go to a vote. I was really just curious.
