Region nickname??

Hey ponch,
I see some of the other regions have come up with nicknames for their region group. Has anyone thought about this for us?

I can see where we might want to consider it. I do have some reservations about it though that we can discuss at a later time.

Ponch and I only briefly discussed it when other regions were thinking about it. Nothing came about from the conversation other than acknowlegement that others had decided on names and that it would eventually come up .

I would like to get Ponch's opinion about this first when considering any names since he is the Region Leader.

I will get Ponch's attention on this and let him "chime-in" about your inquiry.

Not being from this region, I do not have a feel for a north central identity. I am probably a poor candidate to come up with one. I mean, they renamed the local hockey team the Iowa Chops, with a pigs head on the jersey. WTF? I don't consider it a big deal, and I don't have the need for one, but if the constituency here wants one, then we'll have to decide on it. So to that effect, lets hear from the masses.

What?!!!! You don't like the name "Chops"?

Ha! Welcome to the "heart of America" Ponch. Our local semi-pro hockey team is called the "Ice Hogs". It seems in the Midwest; you name something after an American Indian "tribe" or some sort of farm animal. Since naming anything after American Indians is no longer "PC"; you are left with farm animals.

OK; I'll be the first to take a shot at this.

The "Plains Drifters". It will be listed on the region's logo as: North Central Plains Drifters.

If you look at the South Central Region's site you will see the logo. The name will be listed around the KawaNOW logo. Their's says: South Central Nomads

Any one else with an idea... let's hear it.

That is the name I liked. Our local hockey teams are called the Rivermen and Prairie Thunder.
