Ooh, those things are hell to shoot. No pistol should be that heavy. They are fun though.

Personally, I like Kimbers for semi-auto and Ruger Vaqueros for revolvers.

You mean they don't call them "Red States" because of all us rednecks? And YES guns count. I wish it was legal to carry a firearm on a motorcycle in SD. Then I could sling my rifle case on my back and ride the Nomad to the range, but NOOOOO, I have to drive the car. Guess we're not that redneck after all. :)

I am not sure I understand. Are you saying that you can carry guns in your state just as long as you are not on a motorcycle?... or are you just saying that with a car it isn't as obvious that you are carrying a gun.

Here they have permits to carry concealed weapons but do not need a permit to carry a firearm if it is not concealed. However, you CANNOT carry a firearm on a motorcycle under any circumstance even if you have a permit to carry it.

I think the reason this law has never been changed is because of the Sturgis rally.

How many of those biker gang guys do you think obey that law ???
Another case of the criminals are going to have guns regardless, but you, a law abiding citizen cannot carry.
If you do decide to carry, you could go to jail for protecting yourself from the badguys :-/

Interesting... seems such a law is "wrong" in many ways.

I agree. Many motorcycle organizations in the state have been working for decades to change it. The last two years someone has been shot during the Sturgis rally. Both times involving a 1%er group. I am pretty sure it is events like this that are preventing any change. It seems that people in this state love the tourism dollars from the rally but can't get over the outlaw biker image. One bad apple spoils the bunch kind of crap.

OP, Following along that line of the 'one bad apple' have you seen the previews for the new FX show Son's of Anarchy? Does nothing to help the image of us 99%ers.

I have seen it. I hate to admit it but I'm hooked. I almost fell out of my chair to hear "Peggy Bundy" say pu**y on tv. Man she plays an evil woman and does it well.
It is a very far fetched show though. I supposed motorcyclists like us can watch for entertainment value only while some probably think its a documentary. Probably the same people that base the quality of modern music by who wins american idol.
