Snow, snow and more snow

Yesterday was quite a day. We ended up with somewhere between 6 to 8 inches of snow. Liz and I worked blading and shoveling twice yesterday to try to keep the snow at a manageable level. But what we got was nothing compaired to Liz's dad just 12 miles north. He has 12 to 16 inches on the ground with 3 to 4 foot drifts. The roads are impassable and the county will have to come with the drift buster on the grader to get them opened. Bill, Liz's dad took the Polaris Sportsman 4 wheeler down to check on the cattle, got it stuck and had to shovel it out to get back to the house. No schools open anywhere in this area. Poor kids will be making up snow days into the middle of June if things don't change. Now the forcasts are for at least 10 degrees colder than normal getting down into the middle teens at night. All this snow being so wet will freeze solid and take forever to melt. Anyway how is your day!

Rode about 240 miles on Saturday. Little cool, but perfect for riding. My wife and I are splitting up after 10 years (don't ask me why, because I don't think there is a good reason), so it was good to get back on my Nomad for a few hours. Glad I have ny Nomad family, though. Other than that, it's been great! Jamie

Jamie I am so sorry to hear that. Liz and have both been married before so we understand and feel for you. Take strength from your friends as sometimes you just need someone to listen and be there. We wish you all the best and hope things work out for you.

Sorry to hear that Jamie. I know from watching my second boy go through a divorce that it's tough. Wish you the best.

Thanks Fellas. What makes it worse is that it will be my second. Married first time right out of college for 5 years and two children (boy, 24 and girl, 19). Thankful for my family and friends. Jamie

I feel for you Jamie and my thoughts are with you and your family. I've been through a divorce and it's no picnic. Kathy and I have been married 27 years, but before that, I was married for 8 years.

Hang in there and remember your KawaNOW friends are thinking about you.

Back to the original thread. Watchman, I am sure my relation back in Nebraska would be happy to trade you. They still have drifts/cuts on major highways that are taller than a semi-truck. They are all pretty much tired of the snow. In fact, they are setting records for consecutive days with snow cover now.

Starting tomorrow we are suppose to begin a warming trend. With highs in the mid to upper 30's and sunshine all day. Our snow will be disappearing pretty quick if that happens. It is just that a person forgets what it is like having snow on the ground for most of the winter. We haven't had it where it stayed on like this for years. In February her, we usually have 2 weeks of cold weather but not sub zero weather. For years around here people have had lettuce planted in the gardens by now.
