just pulled the plastidip off my whole bike yesterday, just got to do the saddlebags now. if by chance anyone has a hard time getting plastidip off just use citris based degreaser, turns it back to its liquid state and easier to deal with.

I had the same problem when removing the stock decals from one of my VStroms. I tried everything, to include a light acetone, gasoline, kerosene, diesel and even carb cleaner.

I finally used a combination of elbow grease, a hair dryer and WD-40. I believe that leaving the WD on for about 20 minutes before applying the grease and the coarse rag is what finally did the trick. What was strange is that the residual glue came off easily one one side.

And yes, forums like this are very helpful.

Edit: Purple Harley and others offer some nice tank decals if you decide you want replace the decals with something. There was a thread on it awhile back. One of our members found some extremely nice looking ones.

The second side came off a lot easier than the first, the first side took a couple of hours, lots of elbow grease a hairdryer and half a bottle of goo-gone. 2nd side took about 30 minutes.

Actually, plastidip peels right off... only thing I ruined was an hour of my life, but since I'm on vacation, I got over it pretty quick!

I think I read somewhere that using dental floss can be helpful, but I haven't tried it personally.

I actually used dental floss to start it, forgot to mention that... I imagine fishing string would work pretty well too.

I use this stuff on paint/clearcoat (bikes/cars) and gelcoat fiberglass (RV). Use fishing line like a saw to get badges off then wipe off residue with this.
