THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

OPEC sells oil for $136.00 a barrel.
OPEC nations buy U.S. grain at $7.00 a bushel.
Solution: Sell grain for $136.00 a bushel.
Can't buy it? Tough! Eat your oil!
Ought to go well with a nice thick grilled filet of camel ass!!!

What if they just buy Russian wheat fot $8 a bushel and charge us $137 for the oil?

What we need to do is drill sideways from Israel and just pump the oil right out from under them. What could they do about it?

(Anybody think that with GPS technology we couldn't do it?)

I know that some drill holes can go off horizontally for quite aways but not sure of the practical limits. There must be a way, just need a good foot hold in the region...

I like the sentiments. Some of you guys need not consider applying for any position requiring tact and sensitivity. Ha.

I still think that we have oil right here under the good ole US of A that we have not tapped yet. No need to think of ways to steal it from the Arabs.

I'm sure I could rationalize myself into not considering it stealing. Particularly if we drilled a really big hole and pumped it out so fast that Arabia dropped below sea level and was covered by the ocean.

OK, OK, I don't hate the Arabs quite that bad ;) Just enough that it wouldn't bother me if we got the rest of "their" oil really cheap.

I thought they were a big importer of our grain. I know they used to be but I could be wrong. . . Nope, USDA says they still are.

Well, the cost of wheat is definately gonna go way up because tractors, trucks, ships, etc. don't run on air. Also, the cost of oil makes distilling fuel alcohol from grains more attractive.

I agree with you Caddmann, it's just going to get worse.

If that scenario played out it wouldnt be the first time a sweetheart deal came back to bite us in the backside.
We feed the world and get only contempt and hatred in return.

I was reading the other day that it is predicted that there is enough oil in Northern Alaska to make Saudi Arabia look like a dirty puddle. Talk is if we drilled for oil in that area the price would go down to 1.50 a gal. Something like 200 years worth of oil supply up there.

Environmentalists are holding us back from developing that area.
