Hello my friends from the Maritimes

I am back once again seeking your opinion/advice.

Well the two weeks I was supposed to be touring Gaspe and Cape Breton turned into two weeks in Hawaii! Had a great time, but I am still needing to spend some time in the saddle. So next week I am heading north for a whirlwind trip to Cape Breton.

My plan is to head out Thursday night after work and get up to Bangor ME, Friday I will head out early to try and catch as much as I can on the NB side of the Bay of Fundy (tidal bore, Hopewell Rocks etc. ) Staying in Truro Friday night. Early start Saturday up to Baddeck, then the ride Cabot Trail. Sunday I was hooping to do some additional exploring around the Baddeck area before heading back to Saint John where I will be staying for the night Sunday, then heading back home on Monday.

Does anyone have advice on the best route and/or places I should not miss?

Check out the Alexander Graham Bell Museum in Baddeck, its well worth it.And I had the best lobster and clams in Margoreet Harbour, ( its spelled wrong but youll know it when you see it) Cabot Trail is a great place and youll see some outstanding scenery.

The tidal bore is spectacular in some locations and a disappointment in others, also depends on the season and the tide. We went to Truro to see the bore, we stayed at the Tidal bore motel, it was a dump and the bore was just that a bore, it came in as a 6 inch wave.
Try to go to Peggy's cove and Lunenburg, both worth it all. On the Cabot trail look for Neal's Harbour. Great lunch stop, there is a plywood shack restaurant serving fresh catch off the boats.

Update, the wife says the plywood shack was called the Chowder house.

Fortress Louisburg is a must especially if you are there for the rally. They open it to bikes, you can ride in. The town will have mussels and crab dinners music etc. I would suggest to do the trail counter clock wise,that way all the scenery stops will be on your side of the road. I would start at the cable ferry at the foot of Kelly's Mountain. The weather can change quickly there ,fog etc. pack appropriately. We plan to do it the following week. Too bad we couldn't hook up. Have a great trip and ride safe. Welcome to Nova Scotia from one Red Sox fan to another.

Thanks. Is the Fortress open all bikes all day or only groups from the rally?

You register for a group ride I think it's on Sunday not sure,we did it last year.
