i have an oil leak

my wife and i just put 6000 k on our 2006 nomad. bike now has 16000 k. no leaks or problems on entire trip. parked bike after last day of 5 hours riding in heavy rain. today i look at it and i have oil leak on left side, front cylinder. appears to start about same level as bottom of the horn - which did quit on the trip. am sure it didn't leak on trip as i was playing with horn trying to get it to work and i would have seen the leak.
any suggestions?

Look around the valve cover and also the cam plug area. Might have to wipe it all down and then let it run and check again to see where it's coming from.

I agree clean it up dry (No more water), and then look at the engine breather fitting, the Reed valve box just above there, which is a bit confusing to SEE sine more than one large diameter hose tubings run sort of side by side in a tight place to see and , look to see if the engine breather tubing has come loose.

Hence no water clean up right now! If somehow that tubing came off, and you hose this down you will fill the crank case with water. Rain wouldn't likely be a problem.

Rain if any got in there would simply cook off.

Seems as though something worked itself loose. As the other said clean it thoroughly and ride it and then check again. Would be unusual for it to just start leaking and there had been no leaks before. Give us an update.

Where his stated leak is, there is no place for oil to come from. In the area there is a the engine breather which blows in and out about that height, then there is a case to jug gasket, but much lower, then much higher is the head gasket and then higher the valve cover gasket with the cam plug.

But he says about the level of the horn. ......... ???????

Either he isn't seeing the flow, or the breather tube is loose/off I guess????

So far no Vulcans have leaked oil right thru the metal. That can happen, but I never heard of it on a Vulcan yet and if we had that problem I would know.
