Oil.....Rotella?

Hello all....I know this has been covered but im looking for some advice.

2009 Vulcan Voyager.
I ran Rotell for a few years. Last year I was given Motul.

Its time for another oil change. This year Im looking at what works best for a reasonable price.

Is Rotella still an option?

What do you run?

Watch the API rating on T6. There was a formulation change within the last two years to include high efficiency friction modifiers. I bought several gallons last year with the old API seal and not additional friction modifier package. NOT CK-4. The bottles were dusty in a farm store and some more in a Wally World. As long as the bottle you actually purchase has the JASO MA/MA2 rating you should be okay. If you watch you can catch that product for 22$ and collect a five dollar rebate.

There was a thread about this a year ago http://vulcanbagger.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45620

I'm on my 3rd oil change in my 2015 Vaquero. Ran the factory oil for 1000 miles before changing it. It was black after 1k. Ran Maxima Pro 10W 40 for the next 3700 miles. Just finished putting in Castrol 20W 50 and have to say engine noise has quieted down significantly. I attribute this to the thicker weight. Just seems a lot smoother now. The Maxima was good oil and was still reasonably clean when I drained it. But I never got the lifter drain down and clack to go away like it has with the heavier weight Castrol. Not plugging for Castrol, just relaying my experience.

Anyone else running 20w50 or even 15w40?
Any performance gains or losses?
How's engine temp with the 20w50?

I use Royal Purple Motorcycle 20W 50 in the summer and 10W 40 in the cooler months. I think it does run a little cooler with the 20W 50, especially on the 100+ degree days and in slow and/or stop and go traffic. I don't think you would notice much performance difference with a higher weight oil, but you might get a little better gas mileage in hot weather.

How is the 10 w 50 as far as noise and lifter leakdown. How does the 10 w 50 or 20 w 50 feel from a transmission point of view.

I haven't noticed any difference in performance or noise between the 10w-40 and 10w-50. The transmission feels the same too. I went with the 10w-50 due to the brutal Florida summer heat. I haven't tried 20w-50.
