Yeah, one suggestion is that a ST1300 and F6B met one night at a bar, got drunk, and this was the resulting offspring.

Its funny that so many mention the "Harley Lifestyle". That is one of the things that keeps me off a Harley.

I've never used that term, personally. It's a bunch of marketing BS.

46,000 miles on my 05 Nomad. Never been back to the shop, can't say the same for any of the Harleys I ride at work.

Authority bikes are ridden harder than the average street bike and the good thing for you is that you don't have to pay for repairs and maintenance. Has your department considered a different bike?

I can't afford a harley or a victory but if you can I say go for it you will never know what your missing. Maybe the best bike you have ever owned if I had the money I would try a street gulide or a cross country. But I can't so I bought a Vaquero because it fit as good as any of the rest at $5,000 less I have had problems with my kawasaki but being persistent has paid off and kawasaki is fixing my vaquero right finale and now I can enjoy what I paid for. So the point is enjoy what you pay for if its what you want.
What kind of problems have you had? I just purchased a 12 Vaq

There aren't many options in our area for different brands, the bmw comes to mind, but other departments that tried them went back to the Harleys. I try not to ride the pd bike to hard, or abuse it, but, it still started leaking with less than 20,000 on the clock

I've heard that motor cops prefer the RTP and ST to the HDs. I think it depends on the type of duty. If I was in traffic and city a lot I might want the HD. If on the highway, the others. The RT doesn't work well for short people though.

I'm been riding a relatively short time. I started with a used Vulcan 500 and rode it for a few years just to make sure I'd use it. And I used the heck out of it. A couple years ago I found a used 2005 Nomad on Craigslist with 2400 miles on it. The guy was asking $500 less than blue book so I snapped it up. It's got over 24000 miles on it now.

I don't have a lot of experience riding different bikes but I do love my nomad. I can't compare the ride to a Harley or anything else but I do like that it's different. When I ride to a local biker bar I like very much that I can find it amidst the dozens of black road kings.

My 2 cents
