mountable voltmeter

Looking for suggestions for a digital (3+ digits, 12V) weatherproof, handlebar(or elsewhere on the bike)-mountable voltmeter. Want to stay away from colored lights only, and of course, not too expensive, maybe $30. I know there are full function bench meters for $10 so there should be a simple single function unit for a bike but have not found a suitable one online or elsewhere.

Thanks for any ideas.

Here's one possibility:

Don't think it's weatherproof and it's sort of pricy! Ugh.

Here's another: (Don't know the price)

Thanks very much Bob. Not quite what I was looking for but appreciate your response. Surprised there isn't something like that, maybe the colored lights

are all that is really needed.

Thanks again.

Ells, there is a digital volt meter in the J&P Cycle catalog on page 265. It is a 5- function and sells for $26.99. It may be on their website I don't know. It is part #ZZ73218 .

Thanks TC. Yes,that's the idea

but it is not weatherproof. Doesn't say that in their ad but the same unit is available from other places and have failed when they get wet. Price is right though, might get one just to try it out, may be a reasonable way to protect it.

Did you look at this voltmeter?

http://www.digitalmeter.com/

You could mount it in a small box from Radio Shack and attach that to your bike. I think I will buy one myself since I have room in my larger Radio Shack project box that I mounted on my handlebars for my horn and aux lighting toggle switches. (See center photo, just above the speedometer.)

gghost found a good one but will be hard for me to get it mounted. In addition to those mentioned above, I've found:

http://www.iequus.com/product_info.p...tegory_id=1_40 Sold at Wally world for about $20 but probably won't survive rain. Looks like macmac is using one though.

and the Cadillac:
http://www.kisantech.com/index.php?cat_id=5 Ready to go, reviewed/used by Gadget and has Volts, Amps, and Temperature with variable lighting functions - but $150. Its the one I'd want but price is causing me to pause, then again Kisan makes very good products and could be a life saver when trouble shooting or optimizing electrical usage.

Then again, I could buy 7 of the Wally units for the price of the Kisan and probably won't ride that many times in the rain in several years, although might be wet conditions when it is most likely to be needed, if ever at all. Just would be a good gadget to have.
