With the bike on just its side stand I opened the filler hole and looked inside with a flashlight.
Yes I can see gear oil but it does not come out like if I had did the "fill over" method.

Over the weekend, I got my bike put back together, besides redoing the final drive seals, I did a few other things, like serviced the swing arm and drive shaft. I also took my exaust (Vance & Hines) completely apart so I could check for cracks, and to paint the header pipes with some of that ceramic header paint rated @ 2000 degrees BTW, there wasn't any cracks). They were starting to look pretty bad after 7 years, and I wanted to dress them up a bit...........
But anyway, back to the final drive............ I decided to measure the oil as I put it in the final drive. The bike was sitting with a 2X4 under the kickstand, and I used a turkey baster to fill the final drive. I put in 200 ml and it came up to the bottom of the little "V" inside the final drive way down by the ring gear, WAY DOWN from up to the fill hole opening. You need a flashlight to see in there, but the ring gear is sitting in the oil bath, so it will be slinging the oil like it's supposed to, and since I had completely disassembled the final drive to replace all the seals, I put 15 ml extra in (total of 215 ml) to make up for what don't come out when you just do the oil change, and the level didn't change much, if any that was noticeable. So buy this, I will say that if you fill it all the way up to the threads, you are defiantly drowning the seals.
