Potential Attendance to Rally in the Redwoods.

Realizing there is a lot of time between now and then, I have started looking a how to go to and from. Looks like I will travel through NE, SD, ND, MT, WA, ID, OR, CA, NV, UT and CO. I am now ordering State maps on line. With winter here, I have time on my hands :)

I am thinking of going straight to CA through Wy, UT, NV, etc. Not sure yet though. If we meet up with Waterman, I'll have to see which way they are going too. I do have Family in LaGrange OR, but it's a little out of the way.

With 3 days to get there and 3 to get back and 1400 miles. It will be the fastest route out and back. Most likely hit I-80 and haul to Winnemucca and then head north into Oregon and then CA.

Yeah, it's about 2000 miles from where I live, and that's not touching Oregon. Of course this is just for educational purposes.

They say rt 50 is awesome.

With any luck there should be some Nomads around me, so it'll be easy to spot me.

I understand that you working folks need to get there and back sort of fast, but being retired I hope to go places and see things have not yet seen. I may take as long as 6 - 8 days to get there there and the same to get back.

Sounds like we may have to setup an unofficial, mini-pre-rally rally in Winnemucca the day/night before the rally in the redwoods for those of us traveling west. Looks like there may be a few Nomads in town at the time... or we could all just go find somewhere good for dinner that night. This is gonna be fun. I look forward to meeting all of you.

If things work out like I want, Winnemucca will probably not be a place to stay for a night. My plans right now (and subject to change) is to head to Laramie, Wy on Friday night (leave after work), Wendover, Ut on Saturday night, and then to Lakeview, Or on Sunday night. Not as much to see on the interstate and that will leave a nice leasurely ride into Crescent City on Monday with some sight seeing scheduled.

Laramie? crikey.

I will probably be leaving Saturday, but Friday is possible. Thought about RT 50. Any takers? they call it the loneliest road in america. I'll be up for anything. getting to the Denver area will take 8-10 hours, less if I can haul ass.

I-80 to Winnemucca? That's one ride I don't like in a car, I can't imagine a bike would be much of an improvement. You'll get to see the Bonneville Salt Flats west of Salt Lake City. Lucky you.

Like I said, RT 50 to Reno. Is that better than 80?

Yep, sure know that. Will be trying to haul a$$ thru that part. Problem with where we are at, any other route adds a considerable amount of time onto the route and much slower roads.

If I head south that doesn't add much for scenery and adds close to 200 miles. Head north, still mostly interstate but doesn't add much more than 100 miles. This might be my route back home.

That would be about 3 600+ days for you to make it there by Monday evening. For me, 700+ mile days are doable for me, but the wife will be along and that maxes out the days at closer to 500 miles.
