K & N E-3226 air filter

If you want to give more air flow on the 1500 Fi
Change to this air filter. It's 2 1/2 inches high instead of 2 inches.
It's 6 inches in OD. I left out the metal spacer and it fits great with a little sticky back foam spacer on the mount.
This provides more airflow at hwy speed.

I didn't want to give up the stock look of 2 dog bowls.

Just some info. Have a good day.

Great info Jllm! Mine was choking a little because of airflow. Went with the stock Chucksters unit, great power increase. Then I added the hypercharger, while looking good, didn't flow as much. It was actually a performance decrease.
Then reinstalled the Chucksters unit, then did some digging in the PN#'s, used a K&N E-4518. Same OD as the Chucksters mounting plate, is just a touch under 3" tall, doesn't interfere with my knee. Its designed to be washed out with water, no oil. Made for the big, v-twin industrial zero-turn mowers. Instead of cotton or paper filter material, its synthetic.
All I had to do was add a piece of SS Allthread to the Chucksters alum. riser, put a jamnut w/locktite on it, install cover, and use the tri-wing air cleaner nut on it for looks.

I think the old filter was so restrictive that it was pulling oil out of the engine into the breather at the bottom. With the new larger air filter it isn't doing that. At 80MPH I have more throttle response.

Yea, I noticed running the Hypercharger I was drawing more thru the crankcase vent hose then I was with the better flowing open filter. Those 2 huge pistons, when you restrict the breathing draw more oil vapor.
