2010 Rally

Looks like the dates will be Tuesday, June 15 through Thursday, June 17 in the Shenandoah Valley area of Virginia. We will plan for rides on each of the days and have a dinner/get together on Thursday night.

Todd suggested that we use Big Meadows as our host site. It is located in the middle of the Shenandoah National Park and has numerous room types and prices available. The link below will take you to the site:

http://www.nationalparkreservations....bigmeadows.htm

If that is not good for everyone, we could look at a town like Waynesboro, VA. They have some chain motel/hotel there and it is near the Blue Ridge and Skyline Drive.

Some of the VA area people can chime in on this. I am willing to check on accommodations and arrangements whenever we make a decision on where we want to make our home base.

Guess the Custer trip has my mind ready for the next one.

Amazing Coach A, almost 5,000 miles in the saddle and you're posting about a trip in 2010. Just as long as they're aren't any deer along the way ;).

Whatever you guys decide is fine with me. Waynesboro looks like a good option. Looking at getting my girl back this weekend. Talking a little longer to get a new gas tank for her.

Might consider trailering her from South Florida since it is such a long distance down here... We'll see.... 2010 is an eternity away :)

Yeah, that is what I thought when I started thinking about Custer last summer but it came and went much too quick.

I think most of the deer up there sleep, like the ones in WV...:)

Big Meadows Lodge sounds good. I mentioned it to Mom today and she thought that was a great idea. If that doesn't work out, then Waynesboro works for me.

The deer don't sleep in WV my friend. We had a few on our rides. They were near the front of our pack and Andy did a good job of running one off on our Saturday ride. The Cass Railroad return trip including one meandering across the highway. I had to slow down so it would have time to get across and gone before we got to where she was. That's part of the dealings of riding a bike. They're there and we just hope they stay in their world and not cross into ours. Okay, back to the rally planning. :)

I am going to this one if have to go job hunting afterwords so be it I am glad to see that most have made it home safe and (all)alive from Custer. I would like to do the camping thing in VA so the state park idea sounds good but just as long as I go I don't care where home base is. looking forward to this more then I can write in words.
ride safe.

Coach, got the dates carved in stone, going to request these dates off for next year! Don't know if I can do anything about the weather that far up north?[HeHe] Can't wait! Don't matter to me where we are going, as long as we are taking a road trip!!! Now if I can only get Debby to camp-out it'll be G-R-E-A-T!!!

Tell Debby that Tammy loved it. She will even make breakfast for all of us campers...of course I will have to buy another stove, lol.

Beers by the campfire?? Better not have the same restrictions as the state park lodge in Helen. I was told in strong terms, if the Rangers catch anyone with alcoholic beverages be prepared to get kicked out and ticketed.
Lady at the Lodge also said with a smile on her face, "for some unknown reason, Rangers pay VERY close attention to bikers."
Either place, lodge resort or Waynesboro motel, I'm there. But I plan to stay at Mike & Shiela's anyway, but then again, they haven't invited me!
Maybe they plan to put as all up!

Joe,

The secret to faking out the old body is to drink more. Eventually we all reach a point where sleeping in a tree looks comfortable.

Trust me... I know.

I thought this post was about the 2010 rally...now we're talking about drinking and sleeping in trees.

Hmmm. could they be related?

BTW ----> Jim plans to do rally next June. I'm so jealous of all those who went to Custer!
