Light-bar with wig-wags!

Another blog post! This time I got a new light bar, but I set the lights up with a wig-wag unit! Got to watch the video at the end, it is pretty awesome.

Not real sure but I think the blue lights in Tn are not legal unless you are a police or Emergency responder of some kind

Do you require an emergency light permit for your jurisdiction? I have to get a separate permit from the state for every vehicle I own with emergency lights on it. Never thought about getting one for my bike. We cant run blue/white here, we run red/white.

They aren't legal here in AZ, either. That's why I put the laughing smiley at the end of my statement.

I like that idea, I'm sure I have a wig wag unit somewhere in the garage, I just may hook it up one day if I ever find it.

Well, as an EMT, I had to file a white light permit and only the firemen are allowed to run both blue and white, but the cops in our town have an understanding that we run blue lights. They prefer it b/c then people can see us better so they can get out of our way when we try and respond to the ambulance garage. But yeah, I can't run the blue lights anywhere but in town. I haven't yet, but I'll be putting a seperate switch for the 4-way flashers and I might have one that turns off the blue lights in case I wan't to run the wig-wags and flashers w/o the blue lights (eg, first on scene at an accident)

Why not just a headlight modulator?
Those are legal all most everywhere.

Ringadingh, you might want to check with the OPP before installing the wig wag unit. In most jurisdictions in Canada only police, fire or ambulances are allowed to use wig wag headlights. In some local jurisdictions they have allowed hearses to have them installed.

Ride safe!!

That's exactly whey I hate modulators. They look too similar to emergency vehicles.

One VERY big oversight.... I forgot diodes in the flasher unit, so when I turn my blinkers on they both go. Nothing that 5min and a quick trip to radio shack can't fix.

Though I'm sure I got some weird looks while I was riding around today!

Send a message via AIM to Idaho
That's one mod I will pass up on. The cops in Idaho would not look on those lights favorably.
