A bunch of us VBAers were in your neck of the woods several weekends ago for our Salmon Arm-Nakusp-Creston ride. Check the Western Canada section from time to time to see what's happening out here in the West. I always love riding in the Kootenays! I don't know what it is about the ferry crossings, but I love 'em! Maybe it's because we don't have too many of them here on the prairies.
