Horn relay?

Does a 2006 Nomad have a horn relay? When I bought my Fiamm horn fom Aerostich they said I didn't a relay; relays mostly for scooters; etc. Do I need one? Horn is 12volt/10a--thanks!

Horn relay?

I know you shouldn't install a Stebel horn without a relay, the stock horn circuit can't handle the load. But I think those draw closer to 20a. I don't know what the current draw for the stock horn is.

Horn relay?

The stock horn runs direct off a 15 amp fused circuit, so I think a 10 amp horn will be ok with no relay.

i would try it, then really try it, by holding that horn ON and also holding the + side wire to it, feeling for heat.

If there is heat you need to wire a relay.

Horn relay?

According to the sevice manual wiring diagram, the stock horn is on a 10 amp fused circuit. (Fuse # 2 in the junction box.) It draws 4.0 amps.

If you're installing a horn that draws 10 amps you really need to wire it with it's own circuit fused at 15 amps and with sufficient size wiring. If you want to use the stock horn switch you need to use the switch to trigger a relay. You don't want to be running 10 amps through the stock horn switch or you will be replacing it soon.
