WTF Police Round Up Porkers On I-91 In Vermont

Not what you would expect to see running around on the highways here.
But you just never know.

I don't get it, they let them run loose for two days, and then shoo them behind
the game fence? That would feed some hungry people this winter, stupid.

Makes me think of an incident I witnessed about 10 years ago in Edmonton, Alberta. A large tandem truck had a load of pig's heads that it was hauling from the slaughter house to a rendering plant. The driver spilled his load on the major road North into the city (Gateway Boulevard). Fortunately I was headed South in the other lanes, but when I arrived there were pig's heads all over the road. They had a street sweeper trying to pick them up. Too funny!

UPDATE ~ BARTON, Vt. -

Another problem with hogs on the highway in Barton-- not motorcycles, but pigs from a nearby farm that keep getting through their fence. The hams on the lam were spotted on Interstate 91 Thursday at about 11:30 a.m.

We first told you about the problem last month. The escapes have forced troopers to close Interstate 91 multiple times to protect the pigs and drivers.

Vermont State Police say they now hope they've solved the pig problem. Troopers say they are working with pig farmer John Groff, Barton town officials and local animal group PETS of the Kingdom. They hope to help Groff get proper fencing so the pigs stay safely on his property and so he can avoid legal action.

There have been no accidents or injuries from the pigs on the loose.
