Fuel Injector Cleaner

Would appreciate any input on the use of fuel injector cleaner added to the gas mixture. Is this necessary to keep injectors clean, or is there a better way, or is this even necessary?
Also, what is the expected life of the belt on the belt drive?

Many here run a few ounces of Seafoam through their tank every now and then to keep the fuel injection system clean.

Kevin,

These motors are known for carbon issues. I've run chemtool B12 2 or 3 times a year to help with this. I prefer it over seafoam.

I usually use Seafoam as well, and have tried B12 also. two or three times a year should do it.

I use Chevron Pro gard, the stuff with techron in it. Works good to keep the carbon deposits down. Put some in at each oil change.

Sea foam or B12.. I have used both and they work great, 1 oz per gallon of gas.

I buy any brand of gasoline that is available when I need it.......
I travel all over Canada and USA........
I've never added anything to the fuel, no seafoam, no cleaners.......
My 1700 was apart at 194k to have a transmission shaft replaced and there was no carbon buidup in the combustion chamber and the injector nozzles looked clean.
I'd say all that 'tune-up in a can' stuff is a waste of money.

Thanks everyone for your input, any negative effects of Seafoam or B12 I need to be aware of?

I would just be careful about using too much too often. Those additives work good for a reason, you would'nt want to damage any of the the seals in the fuel system or keep the piston rings dried out.

There is a product out to put in your gas that takes care of the ethonal in the gas and dries up the water in the gas. I can't remember the name it is a blue liquid in a clear bottle. Dose anyone know the name and if it is worth putting in tour bike every fill up. Thanks All, B Cope.

Seafoam, Techroline (Chevron) and RXP

I've used chemtool B12, Seafoam, Techroline from Chevron which you get with you buy Chevron gas, and RXP. The most effective one I used on an old car (Dodge minivan) was RXP. It would not pass inspection, so I put in the RXP, ran it 100 miles, reset the computer codes, and ran it another 150 miles to and from work. Two weeks later at the next inspection try it passed. Not a scientific test I know, but factual.

I've also had good luck with rough running cars and small engines using the Techroline and Seafoam. The old Yamaha bike with four carbs loved Seafoam.
